Market analysis is the process of studying certain characteristics and trends of a market to determine its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. For instance, a commercial real estate developer may conduct market analysis to determine the feasibility of a retail center development on a particular site. In this example, market analysis would likely include calculations of retail property vacancy rates and current and projected rental rates. Market analysis would likely also include evaluation of demographic trends, zoning ordinances and traffic patterns.
