A Certified Public Accountant since 1980, James Flieller has wide-ranging experience in tax planning issues. In addition to being a highly regarded technical tax accountant, he is considered a valued business advisor and counselor. He has built a niche in serving wealthy individuals, their families and their business and investment entities, and has maintained his role as consultant to some family groups for as long as 30 years. Among his areas of expertise are income tax, estate/gift/generation-skipping transfer tax and non-wealth transfer tax matters. James holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with honors and a Master in Professional Accounting, Taxation, from The University of Texas at Austin. He began his public accounting career in 1979 in the Austin office of Peat Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG), where he continued with the company for 12 years, five of them as a partner. James went on to became a shareholder in an Austin CPA firm, then in 1994 founded the firm that is now Flieller, Kruger, Skelton & Plyler.
