On May 1, 2013, DeVries CPAs of Arizona, P.C. merged with Hammel, Beal & Lauer, P.C. to become HBL CPAs, P.C. ("HBL"). This merger combined two of Tucson's premier public accounting firms, DeVries with its expertise in nonprofit auditing and taxation and Hammel, Beal & Lauer with its diverse client portfolio and in-depth knowledge in construction, commercial real estate, medical practice and other small business services. The complimentary nature of the two practices created one of Tucson's most well-rounded and experienced professional teams. The size and organizational structure of the new HBL is important to our clients for three reasons. First, although we are a locally owned company with offices in Tucson, Arizona, we have the advantage of being a technologically-advanced 'virtual' firm, which allows us to maintain an ongoing relationship with our clients no matter where they are located. Second, although we are a smaller independent firm, we have many specialties and service areas, allowing us to meet our clients' varying needs. One of those specialties is serving nonprofit organizations.
